We’d like to direct you to some important policies and resources as you begin a new academic year. In support of the College’s sustainability goals, this information is only provided on the College website.
First is the Student Handbook that outlines expectations, policies, and procedures that are established to enhance your Macalester experience. It describes the responsibilities the College has to students, and in turn, the responsibilities students have to the College and the College community. Students are expected to educate themselves on these responsibilities by reading the Student Handbook.
Second, in compliance with the Drug Free Schools and Community Act we are required to notify you of the campus Alcohol and Illegal Drug policy that is in the campus policy section of the handbook. This policy statement includes campus and federal consequences for violations, and resources.
Third, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sex and gender discrimination within higher education. The new Title IX webpage provides information on the sexual misconduct policy, sexual violence prevention information, and support resources. The sexual misconduct and harassment policies are also located in the student handbook.
